Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. Here is how we handle your data.

Effective date: May 2026

Last updated: July 16, 2026

1. Introduction

Zeepit ("we", "our" or "us") is published by Protosoft, with registered offices at 20 Bis rue des Noyers, 95200 Sarcelles, France (SIREN 510 859 853), acting as data controller within the meaning of the GDPR. Zeepit is a mobile application that receives text or audio shared from any other app (via the system Share menu) and transforms it: transcription (audio→text), summary (with optional translation), text-to-speech (text→audio) and translation. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your information when you use the Zeepit application (the "App"), available on iOS and Android, as well as the zeepit.me website.

By using Zeepit, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Content to transform: the text or audio file you share with the App to transform it. Depending on the transformation, this content is processed on your device or sent to our servers (see §4).
  • Email address: only if you write to us at contact@zeepit.me. Zeepit requires no account: you never have to create an account or provide an email address to use the App.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Anonymous installation identifier: on first launch, the App generates a random identifier (UUID) stored on your device. It accompanies requests to our servers so that transformations from the same installation can be linked together. It is not tied to any account, email address, phone number or device identifier.
  • Technical metadata: platform (iOS/Android), App version and build, app and system language, timezone. They are used for support and to keep the service working properly.
  • Server logs: when a transformation goes through our servers, they record technical logs (IP address, user agent, installation identifier) for security and diagnostic purposes.
  • Usage data: through Firebase Analytics, we collect anonymized usage data (screens viewed, feature usage frequency). It is not linked to your identity and is used solely to improve the App.
  • Diagnostics: through Firebase Crashlytics, we collect crash reports and error logs in order to fix bugs. This data is not linked to your identity.
  • Subscription data: if you subscribe to a paid plan, an anonymous purchase identifier and your subscription status are processed to give you access to paid features (see §5.3). Payment itself is handled exclusively by Apple or Google.

2.3 What we do NOT collect

We want to be transparent about what we do not collect:

  • Location data
  • Contacts or address book
  • Browsing history
  • Search history
  • Advertising identifiers
  • No account, no mandatory email address, no phone number

3. How we use your information

We use the information collected for the following purposes:

  • Provide and maintain the App: run the transformations (transcription, summary, translation, text-to-speech) and return the result to you.
  • Manage subscriptions: verify subscription status and access to paid features.
  • Improve the App: understand feature usage through anonymized statistics.
  • Fix problems: diagnose crashes and bugs from anonymized reports and server logs.
  • Communicate with you: respond to support requests sent to contact@zeepit.me.

Legal bases. These processing activities rely on the performance of the contract (providing the transformations you request, managing your subscription), our legitimate interest (security, abuse prevention, diagnosing and fixing bugs), your consent (usage statistics, audience-measurement cookies on our website) and our legal obligations (accounting and billing).

4. Data storage and security

On your device. Your transformation history (your "Zeeps"), your results and your preferences are stored locally on your device, and are erased if you uninstall the App.

Processing. When your device supports it, the transformation is performed offline, without any data leaving the device. Otherwise, the App transmits to our servers only the content to transform and the necessary options (language, voice), together with the anonymous installation identifier — never an email address, account or device identifier.

On our servers. Cloud processing runs on our servers, hosted by DigitalOcean in a data center located in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany).

Security. All communications are encrypted (HTTPS/TLS), and AI provider keys are managed server-side, never embedded in the App.

5. Third-party services

Zeepit integrates the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy:

5.1 Firebase Analytics (Google)

Used to collect anonymized usage data such as screens viewed, feature usage and user properties. This data is not linked to your identity.

5.2 Firebase Crashlytics (Google)

Used to collect crash reports and diagnostic logs to help us fix bugs. Crash data is not linked to your identity.

5.3 RevenueCat

Used to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat only processes an anonymous purchase identifier and the subscription status. It has no access to payment card information, which is handled exclusively by Apple or Google.

5.4 OpenAI

Artificial-intelligence provider used to perform certain transformations. Only the content to transform and the necessary options are transmitted. OpenAI does not use data sent through its API to train its models.

5.7 Apple and Google — platforms & on-device processing

The App is distributed through Apple's App Store and Google Play, which may collect data under their own policies. When your device supports it, certain transformations are processed directly on the device by system services: no data is then sent to our servers or to any third party.

6. Device permissions

Zeepit requests a minimum of permissions, each for a specific purpose:

  • Notifications: to let you know when a transformation is finished (useful for cloud processing, which continues even when the App is closed).
  • Internet access (Android): to communicate with our servers during cloud transformations.

Zeepit does not request access to the microphone, camera, speech recognition, contacts, photos or location. The App does not record sound: it only receives existing audio files shared from other apps. You can revoke any permission at any time in your device settings.

7. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the following rights over your data:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Erasure: deleting a Zeep in the App removes it from your device and requests deletion of the corresponding processing on our servers. Uninstalling the App erases all local data. You can also request erasure of all data linked to your installation by contacting us.
  • Portability / export: you can copy or share the result of each transformation directly from the App.
  • Rectification: request the correction of any inaccurate data about you.
  • Objection: object to a processing of your data.
  • Opting out of statistics: object to the collection of usage data (Firebase Analytics) by contacting us.

To exercise any of these rights, write to us at contact@zeepit.me; we respond within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (the French data protection authority).

8. Children's privacy

Zeepit is not specifically designed for, or directed at, children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, write to us at contact@zeepit.me and we will take the necessary steps to delete it.

9. International data transfers

Our servers are located in the European Union. However, when you use cloud transformations, your content may be processed by third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Google) whose servers may be located in the United States or other countries.

These transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards within the meaning of the GDPR, in particular the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework to which these providers adhere and/or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. All transfers are protected by encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).

10. Data retention

  • Data on your device: your history, results and preferences stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App. We have no access to them.
  • Audio files on our servers: the source audio file is deleted as soon as processing completes; generated audio (text-to-speech) is deleted automatically after 48 hours, or as soon as the App downloads it.
  • Cloud processing content and results: kept on our servers so we can return the result to you; deleted automatically at most 48 hours after processing, or as soon as you delete the corresponding Zeep in the App.
  • Technical logs (IP address, user agent): kept for a maximum of 12 months for security and diagnostic purposes, then deleted.
  • Analytics data: anonymized usage data is kept by Firebase for up to 14 months, then automatically deleted.
  • Crash reports: diagnostic data is kept by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days.
  • Subscription data: purchase and subscription records are kept for as long as required by our legal and accounting obligations. Payment information is handled exclusively by Apple or Google.

11. Cookies on our website

Our website zeepit.me uses Google Analytics (Google LLC) to measure site audience (pages viewed, traffic sources). These cookies are only set with your consent, which you can give, refuse or withdraw at any time via the site's cookie banner. Audience-measurement data is kept for a maximum of 14 months.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational or regulatory reasons. In case of a material change, we will inform you in the App or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

We encourage you to review this policy regularly. Your continued use of the App after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
